Something fresh is brewing to...

give your Friday nights back.

Across Australia, thousands of bakers, growers and cooks take their orders in WhatsApp, Facebook and Telegram groups. It's personal — and it's a mess of screenshots, DMs and a half-finished spreadsheet at 11pm.

the community crate keeps the neighbourly bit and tidies up the rest. One weekly crate, one link to share, orders that land in order. All on one clean dashboard.

Who it's for

If you take orders from mostly the same people, week after week.

A dozen loaves for the neighbours, or a pallet of flour for twenty regulars. If the orders arrive by message and go out by pickup or drop-off, this was built for you.

  • Home bakers
  • Veg & fruit growers
  • Eggs, honey & dairy
  • Preserves & pantry
  • Coffee roasters
  • Market gardeners
  • Caterers
  • Home cooks
  • Millers & small wholesalers
The bit nobody spells out

What a 2% cut actually costs you.

Most platforms take a slice of every sale. Two per cent sounds like nothing. Say you're selling $2,500 in a week:

A platform taking 2% of your sales ~$215 / mo
The same month on The Community Crate $59
You save $1,892 a year

And their number climbs every time you have a good week. Ours doesn't. We never take a percentage of your sales — not 2%, not 1%, not even 0.1%. Whether you make $1,000 a month or $10,000, it's the same subscription fee — or the same flat 30c an order, capped so it never costs more than Grow.

How it works

We didn't build another marketplace to get lost in.

We built the thing that replaces the 11pm spreadsheet — without replacing the messages, the chat at pickup, or any of the reasons people buy from you instead of a supermarket.

  1. Build this week's crateYour list of what's available, priced how you like. Next week fills itself in from this one — change what's different, publish, done.
  2. Share one linkStraight into the chats your customers are already in. No app to download, no account to make. And your stall link never changes, so a link in your bio or printed on your packaging always points at whatever's live right now.
  3. They collect, or you deliverSet your pickup spot for the week — and move it if you're at a different market. Any buyer who'd rather have it dropped off can ask, at a fee you set. Deliver to as many addresses as you like.
  4. Pack, hand over, doneOrders arrive tidy and in one place. Mark them collected as they go.

You're still the one they're talking to

A few makers have asked whether this turns something personal into something transactional. It doesn't. Your customers still message you, still ask whether there's sourdough this week, still stop for a chat at pickup. All we do is stop the orders getting lost in among it.

The relationship was never the problem. The admin was.

Your stall, and the market

Think of it like your local market.

Every maker gets a stall of their own — your name, your brand, one link you share wherever your community already talks. That stall is yours, and it always leads with you.

When you're ready, you can list it in the Market: a place for buyers to find local makers and growers near them. Opt in, opt out, whenever you like.

Want it under your own branding? We get it.

Every business wants to stand out in its own way, and yours has a name your customers already know. On Thrive, your stall runs on your own domain under your own brand — nothing your customers see mentions us, unless you'd like it to. And you can still be listed in the Market if you'd like to be found. Your brand out the front, our plumbing underneath.

Coming soon

You'll need your own web address — if you've already got one, we can work with it. Buying and renewing it isn't included, and it doesn't come with a mailbox.

We'll never sell to your customers

If someone arrives through your link, they see your stall — and only your stall. We don't show them other sellers, we don't email them, and we never sell your list. Discovery only happens in the Market, and only if a buyer goes looking and you've opted in to be found.

How we're different

Built around the maker, not the middleman.

What we believe

Food brings people together. The people who grow it, bake it and cook it deserve tools as good as the big platforms' — without the commissions, the noise, or the loss of the personal touch that made their community theirs in the first place.

We put purpose ahead of profit. That's not a poster on the wall — it's the reason we never take a commission on your sales. We'd rather earn a fair subscription than a slice of everything you work for.

  • Commission-free, always. We never take a percentage of what you sell. Our price doesn't move because you had a good week — a $600 order costs you exactly what a $6 one does.
  • Paid straight to you. Buyers pay you directly by PayID, bank transfer or cash — no processing fee on any of those, and the money never passes through us. Prefer cards? They run through Stripe into your own account: Stripe charges their standard rate, and we don't add a cent.
  • No app for your buyers. They order from one link you drop into WhatsApp, Facebook or Telegram. No downloads, no sign-ups.
  • Your customers stay yours. Export your list any time. We never sell your data and never market to your buyers.
  • Nothing appears on your stall that you didn't approve. Not a listing in the Market, not a kind word from another maker, nothing.
  • Community first. Free for life for not-for-profit and First Nations stalls. Not a trial. Free.
What it costs

Priced for micro and small businesses.

Pay as you go One crate, one pickup spot, one login. Pay per order, nothing else. No commission, no percentage — just the flat fee, and only when you sell. 30c an order
Grow Two of each — so you can do two markets in a week. Plus analytics, item descriptions auto-generated for you, and Say Thanks by offering store discounts. $59 / mo
Thrive Your own brand on your own domain. Unlimited crates, pickup spots and logins. Coming soon

On every plan: unlimited deliveries, unlimited items and unlimited customers. PayID, bank transfer, cash and card payments, straight into your own Stripe account. Export your data whenever you want. And no commission on your sales — ever.

Prices in AUD. Pay as you go is capped at the price of Grow, so a bumper week never costs more than a flat plan. Card payments carry Stripe's standard processing fee, paid to Stripe — not to us.

Before you ask

The questions we get most.

What will it cost?

Pay as you go is 30c an order and nothing else — capped at the price of Grow, so a bumper week never costs more than a flat plan. Grow is $59 a month. Whichever you're on, we never take a commission or a percentage of your sales.

When does the beta open?

We're running real crates right now with a small group of makers around Melbourne. Register your interest and we'll be in touch as we open it up — and you'll lock in 50% off your first six months once we're live.

Do I need a website?

No. You get a stall link to share straight into your chats, and it works on its own — it never changes, so it's safe to put in your bio or print on your packaging. Running your stall on your own web address under your own brand is part of Thrive, which is still being built.

How do my buyers pay me?

Directly. PayID, bank transfer and cash carry no processing fee, and the money never passes through us. If you'd rather take cards, they run through Stripe into your own account — Stripe charges their standard rate, and we don't add a cent.

Do my customers need an app or an account?

No. They order from one link you drop into WhatsApp, Facebook or Telegram. No downloads, no sign-ups.

What if I want to leave?

Everything is yours to take. Export your customers and orders whenever you like, in a format anything else can read. We never sell your data and we never market to your buyers.

The awkward question

"What if we disappear?"

Fair question. Plenty of small food platforms have come and gone, and you'd be running your livelihood on this. So here's the honest answer.

  • Your customers pay you, not us. The money goes into your own account and the relationship is yours. That doesn't depend on us existing.
  • Your data leaves when you do. Export your customers and orders any time, in one click, in a format anything else can read.
  • If we ever wind down, you'll hear it from us first. Notice in advance, exports kept running, and help moving to whatever's next.

We'd rather answer this out loud than hope you don't ask it.

Our story

It started at our kitchen table.

Every week my wife makes a run to the local bakery — not just for us, but collecting on behalf of others in the community. No charge. That's just who she is. The hard part was never the collecting or the driving. It was the chats — orders scattered across messages, screenshots, and a half-finished Google Form.

Watching the late nights spent making sure nobody was missed, I kept thinking she deserved something better. That became The Community Crate.

I'm the whole team right now. If something breaks, you email me and I answer: [email protected]
